MPGe, kWh per 100 Miles and Miles per kWh Converter
Enter any one EV efficiency number and see the other two, using the EPA's 33.705 kWh-per-gallon equivalence.
How it works
kWh per 100 miles = 100 ÷ (miles per kWh) = 33.705 × 100 ÷ MPGe. Equivalently MPGe = 33.705 ÷ (kWh per mile). The factor 33.705 kWh per gallon of gasoline equivalent is the EPA's conversion.
Worked example: 30 kWh per 100 miles → 3,370.5 ÷ 30 = 112.35 MPGe, and 100 ÷ 30 = 3.33 miles per kWh.
Assumptions
- Uses EPA's 33.705 kWh per gallon-equivalent exactly. The EPA label rounds MPGe to whole numbers.
- EPA label MPGe and kWh/100 mi include Level 2 AC charging losses; a miles-per-kWh figure from a dashboard may not.
- Conversion only. It does not predict your real-world consumption.
Frequently asked questions
What is 100 MPGe in kWh per 100 miles?
EPA: a vehicle using 33.7 kWh to drive 100 miles has an MPGe of 100.
What is 30 kWh/100 miles in MPGe?
3,370.5 ÷ 30 = 112.35, which rounds to 112 MPGe. FuelEconomy.gov lists the 2022 Kia Niro Electric at 30 kWh/100 mi and 112 MPGe combined.
